Beginning on April 1, we are running our fishing charters from the southern ports of Michigan City or St Joseph Michigan depending on where the hot spring salmon bite is occuring.
Weather dictates the best fishing this time of year, but traditionally the coho fishing is excellent in both ports, but the chinook salmon head inshore to St Joseph rather than Michigan City.
We begin pursuing thousands of salmon migrating from the warm Indiana end of Lake Michigan which can produce average catches of 15-25 salmon per half day charter fishing trip during the months of April and May.
By mid-May we will follow the migrating salmon north to the port of Holland Michigan. With only a short 5 minute ride from our dock we are on the big lake, compared to a 25 minute ride in Saugatuck, you spend your time FISHING instead of riding down a river!
The first week of June starts our fantastic offshore steelhead fishery which lasts throughout the month. Hi-speed trolling and acrobatic aerials are the name of the game when targeting these fresh water tarpon.
The second week of July begins the summer season back on Lake Michigan which lasts through the end of September. Consistent catches of King Salmon and Coho Salmon along with pleasant summer weather make this an ideal time for a successful fishing charter. Many outstanding catches are produced as the salmon begin to migrate back down towards their home rivers in preparation for the annual spawning run.
October brings the seasons best offshore steelhead fishery with unbelievable action fighting these silvery acrobats. Pleasant fall weather, incredible fall colors, and fantastic steelhead action provides coolers full with the lakes finest eating fish. This unparalleled action lasts right through Halloween.
In addition, we also run walleye charters on Lake Macatawa (Holland Michigan) during the month of October. Action is excellent for the fine eating walleye during October!
Lodging recommendations and discounts are available in each port that we fish from, and location and driving details are provided in advance of your scheduled charter date.
